Digital Marketing Tools to Keep You Learning

Each year, thousands of college students graduate. Many of them have their next adventure lined up. As a recent graduate of Drake University with no position waiting for me and only a vague sense of my life’s direction, I was one of the remaining grads asking “Now what?”. Of course, I spent a lot of time applying for and interviewing for jobs. While I waited to find the right fit, I turned back to what I do best: learning. I discovered there are seemingly endless online resources to help people build their digital skills. Better yet, they’re useful for everyone wanting to learn more about marketing online, not just recent grads!

Google Analytics Academy

Google Analytics is a powerful tool to help you understand your website traffic and use it to reach your organizational goals. Admittedly, it can be overwhelming at first. You can see how many visitors you’ve had, when they visited, how many pages they viewed, how long they stayed and more. It can leave users wondering how they’ll ever use all that information. Luckily, Analytics Academy is a free tool to help users understand how to utilize the information they are collecting. Beginner and advanced courses are available to walk you from creating an account to measuring your marketing campaigns.

Google Digital Garage

Looking for more of an overview of online marketing? Google still has you covered. Digital Garage features lessons on everything from building your online presence to boosting online sales. With more than 20 lessons in the certification, users will learn a little bit of everything. Better yet, it’s an easy to navigate and beginner-friendly. There’s even built in motivation to finish the course. For each completed lesson, users receive a badge. Collect all 23 and earn your certification!

HubSpot Academy

HubSpot is great tool to learn more about inbound marketing. There are detailed courses on everything from a complete overview to focuses on content, design and sales. The inbound marketing certification features lessons on website optimization, blogging and social media content creation and more. Time commitment differs between courses.

Head to Social Media

Did you know that some social media platforms have their own educational aspect for marketers? Facebook Blueprint has more than 75 short courses available. Twitter Flight School allows users to get more familiar to the site. Besides offering official tools, social media is also a great case study if you pay attention. Study how other brands and organizations post content. Keep an eye out for new digital tools that could give you a platform to tell your organization’s story. With new content every day, it’s almost impossible not to learn from your peers.

I may have retired my cap and gown, but I’m still learning all the time. I hope these tools and tricks are as useful for you as they have been for me!
